Immaculate Conception
Parish was established in 1871 primarily for Irish immigrants, with the financial assistance of Samuel Williston, who donated
the land because he needed to recruit a workforce for his mill in Easthampton. At that time, most Irish immigrants were working
in mills along the Mill River in Williamsburg. The parish has always been and continues to be a mix of ethnic groups, welcoming
to all.
We are the Mother Church of Easthampton with a parish hall and conference room on the lower level. Our worship site has
a number of outstanding architectural and artistic features. It was last renovated in 1985. We have a rectory with parish
offices, and St. Brigid’s Cemetery (see link below) on Everett Street in Easthampton. Also on our property is our
former school building now used for Religious Education classes. Our school ran from 1901-1973 on site. It was then consolidated
with Notre Dame Parish in September of 1973 and became Notre Dame/Immaculate Conception School (NDIC) which then closed
in June of 2007. We have a sister parish San Martin de la Caridad in Villa el Salvador, Peru. The blue candle on the right
hand side altar in the church burns for our sister parish.
